CALL TO ACTION

CALL TO ACTION – CURRENT

This is a request from Evan’s mother:

My son Evan is incarcerated in Colorado for a cannabis DUI in which no cannabis was truly involved. He has another 4 months and has been incarcerated for 4 months already.
He is looking for some pen pals. They do not have email service at the Jefferson county jail so only handwritten letters are accepted.
Please help him find some outside support for the remainder of his time. I know his sentence and situation is light but he could really use a friend or two. Most of his friends do not realize where he is.
Addressing Inmate Mail
Inmate mail should be addressed with the inmate’s full name:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Medical Marijuana Patients under attack (UPDATE June, 19 2018)

Celina, Ohio (December, 28 2017)- For medical marijuana patients Peggy and Glen Keeling life has been an anxiety filled nightmare since they were “busted” on October 31, 2017. The Keeling’s are a soft spoken, community oriented, married couple with kids- your typical family next door. Despite being a legal medical marijuana patient Glen was held on a bond that they had to raise money to pay until November 22 and now must wear an ankle monitoring bracelet.

Glenn has been treating Crohn’s disease with medical marijuana and Peggy has been treating Multiple Sclerosis as well. Both of these diseases can and often are debilitating on their own but more so when you add the side effects associated with pharmaceuticals often used to treat them. Glenn and Peggy chose cannabis as a legal option for relief. The state allows the couple to possess 450 grams and they were well within the guidelines, possessing only 306 grams of cannabis medicine.

Despite the Keeling’s abiding by their state medical marijuana laws both are facing charges of felony 1 manufacturing, 2 counts of  felony 3 possession of hash, felony 5 possession of marijuana and felony 3 child endangerment

Charges were dropped for both Peggy and Glen only to be recharges again recently. They are now facing numerous felony charges – far more than they previously had.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Completed

Call to Action From POW Craig Cesal

FCI Terre Haute, Indiana (October, 15, 2017)- Craig Cesal has reached out to THSI to get some support in regards to lack of food and basic hygienic supplies As for the lack of food Craig wrote,.“…although the FBOP prison population has diminished from 221,000 prisoners in 2015, to 185,530 last week, the food supplied to us has been greatly diminished.”

Many of you are aware that Craig is an insulin dependent diabetic and speaks about how the food portions and meal times affects his and other diabetics blood sugar levels, “ It is notable that the small breakfasts at 6:00AM will not keep insulin-dependent diabetics, like me, with enough blood sugar. Lately, we often experience hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) about 9:00AM, while at work, and are not served lunch until 11:00. This is problematic for me and all diabetics here.”

Lastly Craig’s own thoughts on basic hygiene,“Why the FBOP has significantly less inmates, a greater budget, but they have cut about everything we get.  We only get three rolls of toilet paper per week for two inmates. It often doesn’t last. Only five pairs of underwear and socks, but no washing machines. I don’t ask for luxury, but I don’t believe we are seeing our actual food and hygiene needs met.”

You can email and call the prison to express your concerns at THA/ExecAssistant@bop.gov  or Phone:812-238-1531.
